Maple Rise Academy works with girls ages 13-18 to help them develop emotional balance in their lives. Maple Rise Academy is a close-knit program, where the girls are engaged in healthy activities that they help plan. Maple Rise is created with a foundation of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, or DBT, to assist in gaining skills to better manage emotions, navigate through adolescence in positive ways, and to create healthy and balanced lives for themselves. Our students also acquire skills to better develop healthy relationships, set appropriate boundaries, and improve self-esteem.
Providing gender-specific treatment and living, with the opportunity for supervised co-educational school and social interactions, our girls are best prepared to be successful in the real world. Two periods per day of our girls’ school schedule are in co-ed classes with a lot of individualized support and supervision. This supervised interaction with boys in traditional feeling classes allows for a normal feeling school experience. This is extremely helpful in allowing our girls to develop the appropriate social skills that will translate to future academic and social settings.
Our girls live in a beautiful home with pristine views overlooking Cache Valley. The home is spacious and on several acres of land for a true country feel. Our program is small, with only twelve girls, assuring individualized treatment, attention, and support. Girls are involved in many activities promoting service, arts & culture, and healthy living.
- Service–Girls are involved in a variety of service activities designed to increase their awareness of the world around them and to help them participate in it with a sense of community. Service activities include crocheting gloves, scarves and hats for “Sub for Santa” and the local domestic violence shelter; learning and performing Polynesian dances to perform in assisted living and retirement homes; animal care; and service for local non-profit community organizations.
- Arts & Culture-Girls attend live musical, dance, and theater performances. A local opera company and Utah State University afford many opportunities to expand cultural horizons. Girls also attend local art shoes and cultural festivals. Our home has a dedicated crafts room with arts, crafts, and scrap booking supplies so that girls may develop and express their creativity using healthy pursuits. Girls also participate in culinary arts activities which instruct in the areas of meal planning, food preparation, healthy nutrition, and sanitary food preparation.
- Healthy Living-Individualized treatment plans address each girl’s unique needs. Our fitness specialist works with the girls to enhance a positive body image, healthy nutritional choices, and an active lifestyle. Our adventure learning program offers a variety of recreational and experiential therapy opportunities in the beautiful and thrilling Intermountain West. Girls enjoy hiking, snowboarding, skiing, canoeing, river rafting, bicycling, camping, and other activities designed to encourage an interest in nature and active, balanced living.
